The work of the Birmingham Civic Society to enhance the vitality of Birmingham has been developing since 1918. From our inception, post-World War I, our focus has been on revitalising the city, leisure and relaxation.
Throughout the decades, our advocacy has preserved cherished landmarks such as The Rep Theatre and the Burne-Jones stained glass windows.
Our initiatives have evolved, from the installation of our inaugural blue plaque in the 1950s to contemporary endeavours promoting public art and active citizenship since the early 2000s.
We’re not just observers; we actively shape the city’s future. Consulting on development plans and supporting concerned communities are integral parts of our commitment.
As we celebrated our centenary in 2018, we reflected proudly on our legacy.
